Illustration of businessman holding a sign saying "Keep it up"We ended last year on a great note, as we have exceeded growth, based on NC data. Our teachers come to Walker-Spivey Elementary School prepared to activate minds and motivate students to learn and think creatively and critically about their learning. Teachers at Walker-Spivey Elementary School are masters of their craft and understand the importance of preparing our students for the 21st century and beyond. We will continue to focus on supporting all students in building proficiency. We will support our students as they grow to ensure that all students are making the necessary progress in their academic, cultural, and social growth.

Make Up Days in Red StampDue to Hurricane Florence, students in the Cumberland County Schools (CCS) lost several days of valuable classroom instruction. Earlier this week, the State provided CCS with calendar flexibility, which eliminated the requirement for CCS to make up all of the days missed because of the hurricane. However, in the interest of preserving instructional time for students, the Board voted to approve the following make-up days as full instructional days for students. Previously, some of the days were teacher workdays and two-hour early release days.
